In June 2018 we commemorate the 80th anniversary of Ernst Ludwig Kirchner’s
death. The conference “Rethinking Kirchner” takes this occasion to showcase
new research and question previous assumptions on the Kirchner discourse. The
conference invites scholars from various disciplines such as art historians, ethnologists,
literary theorists and psychologists to participate, and links curators and
other museum professionals with experts from academia. By deliberately opening
the conference to many academic disciplines we aim to open the discussion
on Kirchner and welcome new insights and theses.
