Museums for a New Millennium: Concepts, Projects, Buildings

Published by Prestel, Munich 1999 (first edition) and 2005 (second edition)

The Art Centre Basel is pleased to present the accompanying catalogue for our exhibition ‘New Museums for a New Millennium: Concepts, Projects, Buildings‘. This catalogue presents a cross-section of the most significant, expressive and high-quality museum structures and projects that have been designed and built within the last 10 years of the 20th century.

Contemporary museum buildings are often a seismograph of architectural culture. This book introduces 25 museum buildings – designed, still under construction or completed within the last decade, by internationally renowned architects.

“A roundup of terrific, confident buildings” (The Times Literary Supplement)
